Sayla (Ver.2)

Various effects (Gaussian Blur and Glow) were made on Paint.NET (even the glow... in which why didn't I think of this before?). The lines were done manually so it was sorta sloppy for a lightning effect.

Species: Half-human, Half-demon

Religion: Originally, she was a Christian but was banished on the said religion and turned over to Buddhism. Although she doesn't worship the deities much, she wanted to become more responsible not only on her actions but her self-control towards others as well. Although she always think that all gods are greedy and hungry to have the power to control over anything and everything at their will but nobody's perfect; all have their own advantages and disadvantages. They believe that all of their sins are healed when they are blessed yet in reality, this is nothing but all false to believe people that 'miracles' exist.

Personality: She is mild-mannered which is friendly to anyone she meets and rarely gets angry at some point. Direct approach isn't much a problem but people often avoid her despite being harmless as a demon. When not in her daily tasks, she spends her time reciting sutras during her chores as a way to exercise herself to her everyday training. She often gives out complicated advices to people so that they can live out no matter how hard they get through, she never gives simple advices as this is just an "easy" yet bluff statements that aren't meant to help out a person and makes them worse. She doesn't defy Christians so she rather prefers not to say anything about it and never discriminate as a part of her religion.

History: Sylviert "Sayla" Matius (her maiden name is Forstus but from her mother's side anyway) came from a family of magus and non-believers of any region and loathes them with great prejudice. At age 4, she was allowed to go out in the household but has to cover her identity so her mother puts a shawl on her head to conceal her ears and curiously went to a public church, which contains a hidden barrier to repel evil beings and has no problems going in.

The head priest notices her and was asked if she has any "faith" but since she is undecided on what to respond, he suddenly figured out her true identity and doesn't want to report it but instead keeps it a secret between them, and is welcomed to visit every Sunday for a weekly sermon mass to know more about Christianity. Knowing that she will be get into trouble, she made various excuses just to get into the church and returns home in less time not to avoid conflicts with her parents, but to learn the basics of sorcery as a family tradition.

When she reached 18, she plans to go to her usual weekly visit but was instead welcome by a group of village mobs with a tied and beaten up priest on the floor. He really didn't want to betray her but was forced to tell it up the presence of the Archbishop of the church and interrogated him.

Her parents overheard everything and suddenly protected her decision, but the humans did not so they had a choice of getting them killed by all or banish from the religion and flee from the land, so they chose the latter. Having regrets that all she did was at her fault, she wrote a letter of farewell to the family and left to avoid the prolong suffering.

She hid under a commercial box to hitchhike in the boat, unknown to her she may end off somewhere but didn't mind about it and for her own good. Several days passed and the destination was all over, leaving the object standing around in an unrecognized place as a couple of voices were heard telling to open the box. The contents revealed a deity statue and herself slouching inside all worn out from her sea journey, stared by young monks all over.

Thinking that she will be executed, the leader of the temple saw her and asked if she wishes to train here then responded fast. So her tasks was simple yet challenging but gave her physical and mental abilities a good warm-up training. Present time, she has vast improvement and was able to roam outskirts freely without concealing her identity.

Weapons and Abilities: Her weapon of choice is a small sword, Vajra and can use magic, balancing between physical and mental. The sword she carries may look deadly but it doesn't kill anyone and can knock them unconscious, leaving swells or markings. Her magic power is rather weak but enchants only basic fire and lightning magic through the weapon to increase its effectiveness and can declare an effect through herself to give her a temporary increase in strength, defense, speed or magic (the declaration is random so she cannot predict on what will she get). Ironically, she doesn't show any signs of weakness when she uses lightning magic.

Weaknesses: Lightning. Even a simple small rumble from the sky causes her to become immobile, slowing her movements unless she is aided or wait for it to expire. On how loud the thunder depends on the duration, sometimes it will wear off in a few minutes, some could take hours or days. There's no remedy from this and thus, she needs to live with it.

Other: Her cooking is at 50-50.  Don't entrust her on this job, even if she wants to!
